2012 PHI THETA KAPPA INDUCTION

THE PHI THETA KAPPA INDUCTION CEREMONY took place last night, 23 March, at Los Angeles City College in The Faculty & Staffe Center.  The event was a huge success !  Smart and Sexy.  Our College President was in attendance, Dr. Jamillah Moore, as was Professor Ken Sherwood.  Thank you both for your support.  All of the inductees looked smashing and dashing.  Dr. Danielle Muller, the chapter director of Phi Theta Kappa, was elegant and on point as always.  A special thanks to Joel Martin and his companion for the professional photography.  The Faculty Restaurant & Lounge served platters of  hand crafted meats and boutique cheeses with a melange of fruit and olives as well as other tasty dishes.  The LACC Chapter would like to thank Mr. Earic Peters, the Office of Student Life, and the Associated Students Organization for their endless support throught the year.  With continued active participation in campus / club events and  support from faculty / administration of the college, The LACC Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, The Ralph Bunche Scholars Program, and the ASO Honors Club can sustain their mission of scholars helping scholars and the community !

All of the balloons bouquets from our event were donated to Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital  in the hopes of bringing a little cheer and lots of smiles to children and patients served in our community.

Unfortunately, security at Hollywood Presbyterian would not allow photos of the balloon bouquet donations.  Then a lenten miracle !  A stray balloon and a camera phone collided with the statue of an anonymous saint at the exit.

 Honors Transfer Council of Califorñia
2012 Honors Research Conference
Hosted by UC Irvine

Los Angeles City College was well represented at this honors conference for California Community Colleges.  We had close to a dozen presenters and four volunteers who participated in the event.  Thanks to our Director, Dr.Danielle Muller, for her constant encouragement and mentorship.  Also, a very special thanks to Professor Joseph Pak for attending the conference and for his continued support of the scholars.  It was a fine moment when one of our own, Mr. Dani Chandler, was honored at the conference with an award for outstanding achievement and service.  Last but not least... Ms. Amanda Young, a recent transfer from LACC to UC Berkeley joined us to present her work at the conference as part of our group.  Amanda not only shored up our team, she graciously answered a barrage of questions (mostly from me) about life at CAL and anything to do with NERDS.  The day was brilliant and so were the presenters
