Welcome

Welcome to the online home of Phi Theta Kappa at Los Angeles City College!

Who Are We?

Phi Theta Kappa is an international honors society for two-year college students. Joining will enable you to recognize your academic achievement by becoming a member of an elite group of students worldwide who are dedicated to academic excellence. Furthermore, PTK is a wonderful resource for scholarship opportunities you won't find out about anywhere else.

How Can You Join?

Phi Theta Kappa is an invite-only organization to which you must apply in order to become a member. In general, students with a 3.5 or higher GPA who are in good academic standing at a two-year college are likely candidates for membership. To read more specific guidelines, please click the "Join" link at the top of this page.

What If I'm Not Eligible to Join Yet?

The LACC branch of Phi Theta Kappa is an on-campus, ASG-sponsored club. That means that anyone can join the club and attend meetings -- even if you're not yet eligible for Phi Theta Kappa. You can still learn about certain scholarship opportunities and academic conferences, and participate in club events and service projects. The Honors Club is also associated with the Ralph Bunche Scholars College, directed by Prof. Danielle Muller. Therefore, we can also provide you with information about how to join the Ralph Bunche program, which will allow you to take honors courses at LACC and become a member of the Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) which gives you preferential admittance to UCLA.
